Hazel Butterfield takes a look at the healing power of mud and the Rasul experience

The New Trends just keep on coming! Next up, the healing powers of Rasul…

What is a Rasul?

The use of Rasul (or Rhassoul) of Ancient Middle Eastern origin, dates back to the 8th century.

Rasul is a mineral-rich mud treatment which can improve your circulation, soothe tired muscles and leave you with deliciously soft, cleansed and conditioned skin. A great way to unwind either alone or with a friend/partner as treatments are predominantly done in a private environment. Selfie time!

A Rasul Bath allows the bather to apply the natural mineral mud product to the face and body then steam is introduced into the Rasul. Combining the healing properties of mud with the cleansing power of steam.

How It Works

The warmth of the steam opens the pores and allows the enriched products to enter the body, where it stimulates the blood flow, helps revive the tissue and stimulates the lymphatic system. And now it’s become a must-have for spas all over the world.

What minerals are in Rasul Mud?

Rasul clay is higher in minerals than many types of clay, especially silica, magnesium and potassium, making it especially good for hair, skin and nails.

Silica helps protect your heart health by reducing the risk of atherosclerosis, or hardening of the arteries, while lowering cholesterol, according to a 2018 report by the University of Memphis. The mineral can also support the immune response, and help to control inflammation in the body.

Magnesium can play many crucial roles in the body, such as supporting muscle and nerve function and energy production. Low magnesium levels don’t cause symptoms in the short term. However, chronically low levels can increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and osteoporosis.

Potassium is one of the most important minerals in the body. It helps regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions and nerve signals. What’s more, a high-potassium diet may help reduce blood pressure and water retention, protect against stroke and prevent osteoporosis and kidney stones. (Healthline.com)
